Pathlight is seeking a couple in Hampden County to share their home with a man named, “M.”
M. has many interests! In addition to being a fan of the Marvel Universe, he enjoys watching sports – both on the TV and in person (Like attending games? You’ve got yourself a sidekick!). M.’s other hobbies include crafting, airplanes, cars, and building rockets – to name a few. As he is also a family man at heart, it’s not uncommon for him to visit them monthly or to talk on the phone with his mom weekly.
M. attends his day program, Sunshine Village, in Three Rivers on weekdays. Although their organization provides the transportation, we wish to find a future home with this location in mind, as well as that of his family. For this reason, we are currently only looking for Care Providers in SPRINGFIELD, WILBRAHAM, PALMER, OR MONSON (homes bordering these areas will be considered depending on proximity).
In addition to the logistics, ideal candidates for this contract position would have experience working with mental health issues, as well as individuals with developmental disabilities (though not required), be able to establish good routines, set and maintain reasonable boundaries and limits, and provide structure. Care Providers will need to help M. with his ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) through prompts, assistance, and reminders. Best matches would be households without children (though teens and pets are fine). Good communication skills and flexibility are a must.
In addition to making a positive difference in someone’s life, Care Providers receive a generous, annual tax-free stipend, respite, and ongoing support from Pathlight’s team.
If interested in this rewarding opportunity (OR know someone who might be a good fit), visit the previous page ( https://pathlightgroup.org/programs-and-services/shared-living/ ) to fill out a Shared Living interest form or call 413-731-4545.
